Our Services

Where do you perform the massage?

You can bring your fur kid to our cosy massage studio. We also provide home services if your dog is not so mobile or gets very anxious at being in a new place. Home visits will incur an additional fee and is not available on weekends and public holidays.

Where are you located?

Our PFL canine massage studio is at 398 Changi Road #01-03 The Lenox. SG 419845. We operate by appointments only. If you are driving, you can park at the URA parking lots along Changi Road in front of our studio. The nearest MRT station is Kembangan (5 mins walk).

What type of massage will you be doing?

We perform our own proprietary PFL Touch. This is a unique combination of massage and TTouch bodywork customised to your dog’s needs.

Do I need to prepare anything for the massage?

Please do not feed your dog an hour prior to the massage.

Do I need to be present?

For the initial consultation, someone who can answer detailed questions about the dog, and who can lead him/her for the assessment is required. For the massage portion, and for subsequent sessions, you are welcome to be in the room, but are not required. Often an owner will attend at the beginning to report any changes or concerns, then will carry on with their day’s activities, checking back in occasionally.

What should I expect for the first session?

During the first session, we will discuss some basic info about your dog’s medical history and current lifestyle; an assessment is done (basic functional conformation, tone, and tolerance to touch), followed by a short visual gait assessment to determine how the dog is using his or her body. We will then perform the massage.

Will my dogs like massage?

Most of the time, the answer is yes. Keep in mind that every dog is unique so there are quite a variety of reactions. Some will fall asleep during a session while some leave extremely invigorated. No matter which of these categories (or somewhere in between) your dog falls in to, the result will benefit their overall well being.

Sometimes, especially during a first massage, your dog may be unsure of the intention of the massage. It’s not uncommon at all for a dog to be overwhelmed at first, but the uncertainty generally goes away and then he/she starts to enjoy the massage.

What if my dog gets afraid or aggressive during the massage?

Some dogs are very sensitive to touch, or are defensive and lack trust. Touch therapy can be a very effective method to calm a dog, promote a trusting relationship, and encourage a dog to allow and enjoy massage. Sometimes it can take a few sessions for the dog to learn to trust and relax. The massage will be tailored to your dog’s needs. We have to respect what the dog wants and not impose ourselves on them!

How often should my dog be massaged?

Each animal is different and have his/her own unique sets of conditions and circumstances. All of these factors help determine the appropriate schedule for your massage plan.

  • Dogs in rehabilitation: this schedule will be determined in conjunction with you, your vet, and/or your canine physiotherapist. Typically, massage should be done 3 times a week for the first 1-2 weeks, then, twice a week for a specified period of time, eventually weaning down to a wellness schedule as the dog recovers.
  • Chronic pain or mobility issues: 1-2 times a week
  • General wellness: 2 times a month will go a long way in keeping your dog healthy, happy, and active.
Isn't giving a dog a massage a waste of money?

Your fur kid’s health is priceless. Massage provides a safe and natural method of maintaining your animal’s optimal health and quality of life. Regular massage sessions may, in some circumstances, reduce the frequency of veterinary visits or the need for medication or more invasive, painful treatments. Today, many veterinarians recommend massage therapy as a supplement to their health care treatments.

What are your qualifications?

Karen is a US certified canine massage practitioner (CMP) and a member of the International Association of Animal Massage & Bodyworks (IAAMB). She is also a Tellington TTouch Practitioner in training and a Canine First Responder.
